Keen-Canine is produced exclusively by Rit Shabbit Enterprises LLC, a single rabbitry located in Colorado.
No network of suppliers. No contract manufacturers. No outsourced processing. Every allocation is prepared by the same hands, on the same property, using rabbits from the same rare heritage breed.
This is not scalable. It is not efficient. It is not designed to be.
Integrity requires concentration, not distribution.
American Chinchilla Rabbit
The American Chinchilla Rabbit is a heritage breed maintained under American Rabbit Breeders Association standards. This is not a commodity protein source—it is a documented, preserved bloodline.
Rit Shabbit Enterprises maintains this breed for breed preservation, not for consumption. Only rabbits not retained for breeding standards are selected for production. This creates a natural limit that cannot be overcome through expansion.
We do not breed for production. We produce from what preservation naturally yields.
The breed determines supply. Not demand.
Twelve Batches Annually
Production occurs twelve times per year. Each batch uses three or fewer rabbits. Total annual production is under 50 pounds.
Every morsel contains the entire animal—meat, bone, liver, heart, lungs, spleen, and pancreas—dehydrated at low temperature to preserve biological integrity.
Nothing is added. Nothing is removed. No substitutions are made when supply is low.
The process does not bend to accommodate demand.
Sourced Locally When Possible
We source our packaging materials locally when it does not compromise our standard. Packaging and product labels are currently printed in Cortez. Shipping supplies are acquired from Colorado vendors when available.
This is not a marketing position. It is a practical extension of the same principle that governs our production: proximity maintains control, and control maintains quality.
When local sourcing conflicts with our requirements, we do not hesitate to source elsewhere. Standards are not negotiable for sentiment.
We prioritize local. We demand quality. The latter always supersedes the former.
